SOCIALISM is and has always been everywhere in THE USA balanced with freedom and
capitalism.
See what happens is that for the conservative mind things are
"EITHER OR" for the liberal mind things are "BOTH"
During the time of our Founding Fathers neither capitalism, communism, socialism
or any of the other modern ideologies existed...so I am not saying
that they were this or that...but their spirit embodied a balance
mixture of the two. When you use the word 'communism' or 'socialism'
many think of the Soviet Union, Cuba, Korea...the
proletariat taking over private property etc etc..this is Orthodox
communism/socialism...
and its archaic and passed history. This is not the 21st century view
of socialism. Furthermore, these Socialist countries never implemented
socialism the right way. In this ultra modern view, socialism and
capitalism are not contradictory but complimentary. IN FACT AMERICA has
been an example of implementing Socialism the right way> Mixed
socialist and capitalist ideas. These are not EITHER OR but they are BOTH
(INTERSECTION). The Constitution was founded like this as well without
our Founding Fathers knowing about those orthodox ideologies. "In order to form a more perfect union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for common defence, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of Liberty, do ordain the Constitution of the United States" which serves as the basis for the Government they envision...a LIMITED GOVERNMENT with respect to LIMITED POWERS but UNLIMITED with respect to Justice, common welfare, domestic tranquility and common defence!! This perfect Union is the greatest Central Government in the World to ensure that all can afford the liberties we have, just so happens that these Liberties cost us all with our own contributions thru the power of the Government to levy taxes!! which the Founding Fathers envisioned as a way to put a limit to the concentration of wealth and power together. Anyways, I am for individual freedom and also for capitalism but at the same time I am for social responsibility..(BOTH the intersection) and believe in this Country. The Constitution established a country that places equal emphasis
on individual freedom and the common good. It requires our government
to be the steward of this vision as a servant to we the people. In our
society, capitalism has been the honored financial expression of
individual freedom and socialism has been the financial method
through which the common good has generally been funded. The
question isn't whether socialism is good or bad, or whether
capitalism is good or bad. Each of these two systems has its
strengths and each system can be misused. The real issue is, what
strategies for promoting the common good are most effective and
equitable in today's world? The real question is, which ways of
promoting the common good is government best at providing and
which ways of promoting the common good might a freesponsible
market be best at providing? Capitalism has each person pay only
for the cost of whatever they choose to purchase. Not more,
not less. In contrast, socialism spreads among financially
capable citizens the cost of projects or services that a
society (or a group) needs in order to function.
Capitalism works best with purchases you alone are free
to make as an exercise of your personal freedom. Socialism
works best with costs connected with infrastructures deemed
necessary for the common good. Do you believe in emergency
services like police, fire, paramedics, military? Emergency
services are forms of socialism. Do you believe in epidemic
prevention infrastructures like sewers, garbage removal, water
purification, etc? Public health strategies are forms of socialism.
Do you believe in the importance of transportation infrastructure,
such as properly maintained roadways, public transportation, and
air traffic control? Transportation infrastructure maintenance
is a form of socialism. Do you believe in insurance? Yes, even
health insurance, and in fact all insurance, is a form of socialism.
Why? Because it spreads costs evenly among everyone in an
insurance category even though each individual uses uneven
amounts of their health coverage. These are but a handful of
many examples of how socialism is an unavoidable part of
democracy-centered republic. inspired by and rephrased
